Mugabe and the power of the vote

Posted by stevelowton on June 30, 2008

So once again we have a tyrant deciding what will and will not happen within his feifdom. Whilst the rest of the world looks on so another village, tribe and nation is consigned to the growing numbers of those who’s voices have been silenced for the sake of the few. Yet need that be the case? As the United Nations calls for Africans to begin to write their stories could it be that there is something more powerful than the vote that is the power of story?

For me I am convinced that whether we live in Africa or in the western world we are sitting on an immense natural resevoir of life that is the power of each and everyone’s story. With huge disenchantment across the UK and Europe as to the corruption that is rife within politics most of us have failed to realise that within us all is another currency that can empower in a way that the vote and goverments have failed to do.

So Gordan Brown, Robert Mugabe, Barack Obama, what’s your story? Care to take time to join us?

This therefore is the journey that I am beginning; a journey that has risen out of my own desire to discover in my life the storyline that is and has been there. With a few friends we are looking to see just where this might take us.

More tomorrow.
