Don’t like Halloween.
So tonight before I rest my weary head, that which I am grateful for:
1. Halloween is only once a year and forces me to go out and do something more productive and child friendly with my own daughters.
2. The launch events for our first Stories from the Street publication are coming together really well. the public launch is at broders in Leeds on the 20th November. Please come along in the early evening. Details to follow.
3. The first book is beginning to sell. Please see the link. Buy yourself a copy. You deserve it!
4. Neither Jonathan Ross nor Russell Brand gatecrashed our house for tea.
5. I learned my second valuable lesson today. Last week I reported that my key learning was ” It is just not all my fault and I don’t need to and can’t fix it all. “ This week it is ” I just don’t need to fill my days. From now I will do one thing well each day”. Phew already feels lighter. Nice place this knackers yard.
6. Joey Barton didn’t gatecrash either.
7. I still don’t have a dog.
8. I didn’t kiss anyone today who had licked their bottom { I think}.
9. I am not on the shortlist for the Radio 2 afternoon show.
10. I am seeing my mum again on Sunday. She will have something to say about Russell Brand. I hope he has broad shoulders.
Good night,

I wonder if I can ask you a favour?
I recently had a comment left on a post which was clearly very raw to the writer. It was about cancer. The comment deserved more than just a comment back from me so I blogged it the next day.
In the same vein would you all mind reading the comment posted by Dan from Pointed Arrow to the post I made on October 29th – Ross and Brand Suspended on Full Pay.
http://stephenlowton.wordpress.com/2008/10/29/ross-and-brand-suspendedon-full-pay/#comments
I don’t agree with much of it but its articulate and intelligent and a couple of the points Dan makes have made me change my mind about one or two things.
If you can read Dan’s comment then I’d like to respond back myself tomorrow.
Finally. Thanks Dan for taking the time to post it.
Oh and finally finally – I woudl really like to know what you think.

Paul Mason attempted to explain the reasons for HBOS getting into the state it did and why it ended up in bed with Lloyds TSB.
The interesting point which was glossed over was the reaction to the deal of Eric Daniels, Group Chief Executive of Lloyds TSB. Now remember in March during an interview with The Times, Eric Daniels forecast that he would buy. Remember too that before becoming Group Chief executive he was Chief Executive of their Retail Division – so I think it would be fair to say that he knows a bt about retail banking.
His reaction to the deal? I quote “I don’t like using superlatives but this is a fantastic deal”.
Huh?
Fantastic Deal. Doesn’t sound like he’s disappointed. Paying £12Billion sounds an awful lot but to describe the deal as fantastic? Mmmm? makes me think he knows something we don’t …like HBOS in the right hands {and by hands I mean management} has the potential to be worth more than the £12Billion he has paid for it.
I think Paul Mason missed a trick, settling for the easy play of talking HBOS down. Kick a man when he is down? What would have been really interesting was to explore why a} the government were so desperate to avoid a HBOS collapse {perhaps even scenario -ing what a collapse of the banking system would have looked and felt like, b} exploring why Daniels described the deal as fantastic.
Another opportunity missed by the BBC.
Watch this space in the new year as Daniels dismantles HBOS; weeds out the weak {in terms of both people and businesses} and shines up the talent – once again in terms of businesses and people.

Vacancy.
It appears there is a vacancy in Braodcasting House.
I have been putting together a short list.
Chubby Brown.
Jim Davidson.
It is a short list.
I vote for Chubby.
