1. Being tired for the right reasons.
2. Its advent. He is coming.
3. Not long now.
4. Being expectant.
5. Clear thinking.
6. Sleep. Enough to eat. Warmth.
Goodnight.

Jim Froch won the heavy middleweight WBC crown this evening. A unanimous decision. He deserved it.
It is the title that Benn, Sugar Ray, Eubank and Calzaghe have all owned at some time.
Froch was awesome. A worthy champion.
It takes something to get in a ring and prove your point, earn your living, stake your claim … against a fellow killing machine.
I admire them. these intelligent warriors. Not the Tysons. Or the Nortons. Those inarticulate monsters who know nothing better than violence. I admire the intelligent, brave , risk conscious, articulate characters like Calzaghe, Ali, McGuigan, Foreman. The gentlemen of boxing. I admire their tenacity. Their determination. Their singlemindedness. Their discipline. Their purpose
Tenacity. Singlemindness. Discipline. Purpose.
Four characteristics of the journey of the middle third of my life.
What are yours?

So what made my day nearly perfect?
1. Some people actually get where I am! Alleluia. I met three today! The woman in Sainsbury’s this morning on the checkout who listened to me ask all those questions about why the world was in such a state. Two men called Graham – one on the end of my mail, the other a fellow traveller {welcome aboard}.
2. I am loved. My wife. My daughters. Even some people I don’t pay.
3. I ate my tea with N my eldest, smart, funny, direct, beautiful, complex daughter. She is so the apple of my eye. She drives me nuts ……. and is absolutely irreplaceable.
4. I went to see E my youngest daughter in her pantomime. It was truly awesome – more to follow on this in a subsequent blog. She was brilliant, brave, beautiful, smiley and excited. She is the apple of my eye. I am so proud of her.
5. I drank coffee and watch the back series of the American Office with my wife. There is nothing I have ever done or ever will do which will mean I deserve her.
6. From my window…late, late at night I can see the brightest constellations of stars in the sky, the ground is thick with snow and window draws in some of the cold night air. A proper winter.
7. Its advent. He’s coming.
8. All isn’t lost! Misplaced? Yes. Dishevelled? Partly. Upside Down and Back to front? Definitely! BUT not lost.
9. Faith.
10. …& Hope.
11. ……& Love.
My name is Tim Ocsko. I am 45. Fit as a fiddle and strong as an ox. My hands are rough. Running out of money. No career anymore. No idea what I am doing tomorrow let alone next month. Crying.
Today was the best day of my life.

Don’t know about you BUT on a day for me which was nearly perfect – a really great day – my hopes and prayers this evening are with FAITH and HOPE, the conjoined twins who have undergone critical surgery this evening.
I so want these two babies to overcome their start in life. To trimpuh. To be a portent of Advent. A sign.
A sign that all isn’t lost. That hope and faith do actually mean something. That they are connected in a much more mysterious way than that which we see before us. That they are stepping stones on the way to love.
It’s advent. He’s coming. With hope….and faith….and love.
